This week has been a storm! A hurricane of training, teaching, plans, friends, photos and grumps swirled together and creating havoc in high speed rush mode!!
So where do I start? Meeting the fabulous James Greenwell, CEO of Proto-col has ignited my passion to get everyone in need of a lift on Green Magic! (just brilliant, 17 superfoods in one teaspoon? its a no-brainer, defo kept me alive after Equinox 24, even if it was only physically!) products that are used by so many elite and brilliant athletes? Just wow. Wait world, its a company that are gonna take over the nutrition, skincare and beauty world. For one, take a look at the quality of ingredients...my microdermabrasion has crushed pearls in it!! Its crunchy, yet gentle? it feels easy on the skin yet the texture scrubs away all the dead skin cells (sweat, tears, make-up and whatever else a child has wiped on my face at work) and hang on...after two uses it feels clean and soft..adult sport/stress induced acne clearing. Furthermore, I'm also starting to use Colostrum, advised for me in particular...with my...tummy problems and discomfort! So far, so good. Half marathon tomorrow, so lets see how many bushes I need to dive in.
So then...my photography shoot with David Glover, this man is a creative genius, he listens, he collaborates and he infuses his own ideas with the needs of the model..or me. A picture says a thousand words. What he has done with my image has enabled me to put my message across visually, I'm giving it my best shot and , although I'm new to triathlon, I'm coming with determination and dedication to get reach to highest standard I can.
Next, there has been the press releases..and to share my achievement and plans with the local community has been a pleasure, Peterborough Telegraph, BBC radio Cambs and Lincs, Grantham Journal, Stamford Mercury and after my interview today...Lincolnshire Free Press have allowed me to broaden my audience as an athlete who loves to inspire and share my ideas, opinion and motivate others.
Sponsorship is going well, and potentially more in the pipe-line, every day something or someone new comes along, I wake up and I'm excited for what is going to happen. My father has put me in contact with my most recent sponsor Jual Furnishings, it is heart-warming for a company to wish to support an athlete and reflects their friendly and honest, character.
Balancing sport with teaching has been a topic to many have asked recently, and to be fair sport has been my outlet and meditation, teaching can be like sport in many ways as I have previously said, it has its good days, and bad days, you have to hold on to the positives and remember why you are going it. Meeting with the director of sport of the trust of schools I work for has excited me, with plans to inspire others and create opportunities to get into and enjoy sport.
On Monday I had my first power test on the turbo with Stefan Lawrence (SLTri) and wow 1 min, 3 min and 8 mins of 100% power on the bike...I felt muscles I had never felt before, needless to say that Wednesday night's swim felt strange...quad muscles?! hello!!! But despite this, swimming in a club setting again with set, coach and comrades smashing it one up and down a lane is just fantastic and a feeling that I will always in a strange way love, maybe for a few moments I can pretend I'm 15 again, and swimming is still the center of my universe and chlorine infused my blood.
Oh and to conclude my ramble, sorry, I have enter the Vitruvian Half Iron Man Triathlon....yes...half iron man..next August! I ran the run as a relay team this year, and I loved the atmosphere, location and the pure grit and determination of those runners I creeped past, feeling guilty that I had fresh legs! But 2015...I'm in.
Volunteers to peel me off the finish line floor, apply now. It will take a special kinda person to deal with Abi-The-Vitruvian.
